It is observed annually on the 28th of Iyar in the Hebrew calendar, with state ceremonies and the “Dance of Flags” parade in Jerusalem. The Chief Rabbinate of Israel declared Jerusalem Day a minor religious holiday to mark the restoration of Jewish access to the Western Wall and to give thanks for the events of the Six-Day War.
