Jerusalem Day (Hebrew: יום ירושלים, Yom Yerushalayim) is an Israeli national holiday commemorating the reunification of Jerusalem and the establishment of Israeli control over the Old City in June 1967. It is observed annually on the 28th of Iyar in the Hebrew calendar, with state ceremonies and the “Dance of Flags” parade in Jerusalem. The Chief Rabbinate of Israel declared Jerusalem Day a minor religious holiday to mark the restoration of Jewish access to the Western Wall and to give thanks for the events of the Six-Day War.
