Yom HaShoah 2493 / יוֹם הַשּׁוֹאָה 6253

Holocaust Memorial Day ✡️

Yom HaShoah for Hebrew Year 6253 begins at sundown on and ends at nightfall on .

Yom HaZikaron laShoah ve-laG’vurah (Hebrew: יום הזיכרון לשואה ולגבורה, lit. ‘Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day’), known colloquially as Yom HaShoah (יום השואה) and in English as Holocaust Remembrance Day, is Israel’s day of commemoration for the approximately six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust by Nazi Germany and its allies, and for the Jewish resistance in that period. The first official commemorations took place in 1951, and the observance was established by law in 1959. It is held on the 27th of Nisan, unless that date would be adjacent to the Sabbath, in which case it is shifted by a day. In Israel, the day is marked by a two-minute silence at 10:00 a.m. and the lowering of flags to half-mast throughout the country.
