Fast of Esther ✡️

Ta’anit Esther for Hebrew Year 5419 occurred on .

The Fast of Esther (Ta’anit Ester, Hebrew: תַּעֲנִית אֶסְתֵּר) is a Jewish fast observed from dawn until dusk on the 13th of Adar, the eve of Purim. The fast is traditionally linked to the three-day fast that Queen Esther asked the Jewish people to undertake before she approached King Ahasuerus. Unlike major fast days, the Fast of Esther is considered a custom rather than a biblically ordained observance. If the date falls on Shabbat, the fast is observed on the preceding Thursday.
