Shabbat HaGadol for Hebrew Year 4164 began on Friday, 9 April 0404 and ended on Saturday, 10 April 0404. This corresponds to Parashat Achrei Mot.

Shabbat HaGadol (“Great Shabbat” שבת הגדול) is the Shabbat immediately before Passover. According to tradition, the name recalls the first such Shabbat in Egypt, when the Israelites received the commandment to set aside a lamb for the Passover sacrifice. There is a special Haftarah reading on this Shabbat from the book of Malachi. Traditionally, a lengthy sermon is given to the community in the afternoon.
