Asara B’Tevet for Hebrew Year 5884 occurs at dawn on .
Tenth of Tevet (Hebrew: עשרה בטבת, Asarah BeTevet), the tenth day of the Hebrew month of Tevet, is a minor fast day in Judaism. The fast commemorates the siege of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylonia in 587 BCE, which ultimately led to the destruction of Solomon’s Temple and the Babylonian exile of the Jewish people. Unlike most minor fast days that are postponed when they fall on Friday, Asara B’Tevet is observed even on the Friday preceding Shabbat.
